AS THE SUN brought forth an ordinary day in some parts of the real-world, in the virtual nation of Titulia the country filled 1st to 10th Streets with well-wishers and campaign staff from all of Titulia's political parties.
When President Luxis Avaram walked to the podium, he was greeted by Chief Justice Dr Manhattan. From there he would take leave for the last time as Titulia's chief executive - and was escorted to his seat by outgoing Vice President Karl Christen. President Avaram was joined by members of the outgoing administration, as they served out their final minutes in Government with distinction and honour.
All ballots were in - and the nation waited until the Administrator called the results. By the small margin of eight votes in one of the most hotly contested races in Titulia's history, Dennis McVicker of the Libertarian Party claimed victory as the President-elect. This election transferred power to the LPT for the second time in Titulia's history - following establishment under former President Mary Brewster.
The Titulia Herald was invited to attend the press gallery at the Titulia General Court.
As the ballot closed - the nation had elected a new leader. President-elect Dennis McVicker took the oath of office to become the FIFTH PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TITULIA.
In his inaugural address, President McVicker cited Thomas Jefferson as his inspiration in-office.
"Utterly, indeed, should I despair did not the presence of many whom I here see remind me that in the other high authorities provided by our Constitution I shall find resources of wisdom, of virtue, and of zeal on which to rely under all difficulties", Pres. McVicker said in his first address as new chief executive.
He concluded the inaugural address in thanking former President Avaram for his service to Titulia and paying tribute to his contribution.
"I would like to thank President Avaram for his fine service to our young republic, and I hope to follow the fine example he set for us all. It is with great hope and honour that accept the position of President of Titulia; I only hope I can live up to the expectations of each and every one of you".
Shortly after the ceremony, President McVicker saluted former President Avaram as he left the stage - which was returned - with fervour. From there, former President Avaram led his formidable team back to his private house for the RNC's own brand of inaugural celebrations - preparing for the next election and getting to work for the nation he loves.
Editorial Note: The Titulia Herald conveys its sincere thanks to former President Avaram for his service and sends its best wishes to incoming President Dennis McVicker.
