ELECTION UPDATE

Dennis is taking a late lead, with less then 24 hours to go in this election. With 53% of the vote, there is some question if Dennis can eliminate Mr Daly in the first round of voting. At this point the race is too close to call, and the Herald will attempt to project a winner in the next 12 hours.

Tom Norton back as VP

Embattled VP candidate Tom Norton has returned to the McVicker campaign, and has notified his chief critics that he will see them in court. As for the campaign, he released this statement in the forums yesterday.

What will the future bring?

Despite our own eccentricities and paths, we are all Titulians. We come from all over the world from different experiences and cultures. Isn't it time we returned to the path of sharing that wealth? We are not even arguing the merits or facts anymore. We are arguing about ourselves.

Candidate Survey Results

Titulia City - The Herald has sent a survey to each of the major candidates. So far we've only received replies from Tom J Norton (who has withdrawn) and Dennis McVicker. At this point we do not know why Mr Daly has failed to fill out his survey form, so we assume he is either too busy with his campaign, or that he feels disloyal to the Linardist Party and it's affiliation with the Times.

But here is the Survey in detail, and we will include Mr. Norton's responses as well.

Election day is finally upon us.

Titulia City - After a number of wild and crazy days, election day is finally upon us. Dennis McVicker is now running by himself against Linardist candidate John Daly, and his VP Gregory Hocke. Officially Reformer is still on the ballot, even though he announced his withdrawal from the race. Early vote totals have Dennis in the lead with 12 votes, Daly with 7 and Reformer with 2.

This follows a turbulent week, with one major candidate being forced to resign from a trumped up charge of treason. Notorious "bad" girl, "Scud", has claimed that the attorney general, Mr Negron, will soon file motion to convict Tom Norton of treason. Supposedly Tom is guilty of treason due to his work on another virtual nation. The reality is that Tom Norton had emigrated at that time, so there was no treason to be had. What is also interesting is that their is no law or regulation in the T&C that would forbid Tom or any other citizen from joining another country. Therefore the Herald and this writer have no idea where SCUD is coming up with this trumped up charge.

Karl Christen has also asked for assistance in a law suit against SCUD or the Attorney General, if such action is ever initiated against Tom Norton. It does look like the lawyers will again rule Titulia.

DECISION SEPTEMBER: "THE CAMPAIGN ASSETS"

THIS IS the first of a series that shines the spotlight on the September 2009 Titulian Presidential Elections.

This edition we concentrate on the human assets to the campaign effort to become the next tenants of Liberty House for the month to come. The Herald will also look at what that will mean to the nominees' success in the race and who are Titulia's most credible servants in each area of Government.

For newer citizens, we'll also provide a brief Titulian biography of the prospective contenders.

Matthew Ingebritson leaves Titulia

Titulia City - In a Titulia Herald exclusive, Matthew Ingebritson has informed me today on Face Book that he wishes to emigrate from Titulia. Here is some of the text of his earlier email to me. I've not included the whole email for personal reasons.

I decided to leave the site for a few reasons. ............ I'm on vacation for the last 3 months. I've accepted a job that I can't really tell anyone about at this time. I will be all over the united states and I won't have enough time to check the site. I wish everyone well and hope people will do their best to keep the Constitution of the republic intact and not let the power heads try and bully everyone. I had fun in titulia and made some good friends and some memories and now I think that me turning 25 I need to really focus on my own personal happiness in the real world. I'm focused more on my family and friends now and I'm taking on a community service project that should be really cool. that's the short version. .........

The Titulia Herald salutes Mr. Ingebritson for his contributions to the Republic and for the many hours of entertainment. With Matt there was never a dull moment and we'll miss him.

Norton agrees to join Dennis McVickers campaign

Titulia City - Tom J Norton agreed to run with Dennis McVicker in the next presidential campaign. Dennis asked Tom to join him at the end of the program as his Vice Presidential candidate. Norton's podcast is quickly becoming one of the Republics premier podcast programs, and you can find a RSS feed here at the Herald.

The Herald will come out with a much more expanded article on what this means for the Republic. Some experts are already calling this the ulitmate presidential ticket of the Republics history.

McVicker Files Articles of Impeachment Against President

Former President Dennis McVicker started a proposition listing articles of impeachment against President The Teacher.

In the proposition McVicker charges the president with five counts of violating the Constitution and one count of violating Titulian law. The president has been missing for nearly eleven days now, and no government business has been finalized in her absence.

In an Interview with the former president he stated that as of early this morning three additional counts of violating the Constitution could be added to the articles of impeachment. McVicker went on to say "I have also contacted Admin with the updated articles of impeachment and asked them to weigh in on it, if only to clarify if the people had the authority to hold impeachment proceedings."

Due to her absence the president was not available for comment.

After one week, question still remains...Where is the Teacher?

Titulia City - It's official, 7 full days and still no word on the whereabouts of The Teacher. The Republic is balanced on a constitutional crisis. Currently there are several proposals being pushed that deal specifically about this issue, and answers better be coming soon.

It was assumed that William Money would be in fact assuming the roll as President in Teachers absence. But some question by Mr. Tom Norton as to the legality of this issue has resulted in a constitutional change request in the form of a proposal.

Amendment to Article III (5)

It is proposed that Article III: The Presidency be amended, as follows:

WHEREAS Article III, Section 5 states:

"The President will be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors".

It is moved that the existing section be RENAMED as subsection 'A'; and the ADDITION of a subsection 'B', to include:

"that the citizens of Titulia have the authority to call a 'Bill of Impeachment' of the President of the Republic or any member of the Executive Branch such as the Vice President of the Republic, Attorney General, Minister or any other public servant serving in the Executive Branch who either abandons their post, or does not report to work for a period of five (5) days or more.

For the purpose of defining "report to work" such definition shall be given to these officials, as listed:

i) performing work as elected or confirmed by the citizens to undertake; and

ii) are required to perform said work and publish such through blog, forum or public medium".

NOTICE IS GIVEN that this amendment only refers to the stated amendment within the context of Article III (5) of the Constitution of the Republic and is not intended to impede upon the Judicial Branch, which is governed by the General Court Reform Act 2009

This proposal is authored by Tom J Norton, and is an attempt to rectify any future questions as to who takes over the presidency when the president abandons their post. It's now almost a foregone conclusion that The Teacher has abrogated her responsibilities in the most egregious way possible. There still has been very little in terms of communication from her Vice President as well on this issue.

At this point The Herald is recommending that citizens support this initiative so the Republic is restored to order.

IMPEACHMENT???

Titulia City - Late tonight word reached us that Robert Descoteaux has called for the Impeachment of The Teacher. This surprising development comes on a the heels of a brutal day for the missing president and her beleaguered Vice President, William Money. In fact several citizens we spoke to on Brewster Avenue commented that this is akin to a civil war.

Descoteaux's impeachment proposal is currently 5-0 in favor of impeachment. One voice did surprisingly stand up in defense of the constitution. Dennis McVicker did suggest to Robert and others that they settle down and give the system a chance to sort things out. In other words the Admin or General Court could get involved at this juncture.

Again, no comment from members of the cabinet or the Liberty house. At this point William Money has been reported to have locked all the doors, the windows in the Liberty house, and his own whereabouts are unknown.

The Titulia Herald certainly does not endorse rash actions, but on one hand we are concerned that there has been very little communication from the current government as well. The Repubic does not even know if The Teacher is even returning to Titulia at this point.

Is The Teacher gone for good? Is William Money up to the job of being President? Is it time for another emergency election? This has now gone into another day of not knowing where the President is or when she'll be back. The crisis will not abate until there is real communication with the current inhabitants of the Liberty House.

One man who refused to be identified retorted that the Vice President and his party members were too busy smoking a bowl, and could not be bothered. Skepticism and anger continue to build, the question is will The Teacher administration be able to continue?

Titulia's Bad Boy Is Back

Titulia City - Fireworks erupted today, and they were not the type you see in the United States on the fourth of July. Matthew Lee Ingebretson, Titulia Bad Boy is back with a vengeance. Almost declaring war on the Linardist party, Matthew promises to take no prisoners. Clearly and unrepentantly he slashed out against Vice President Money and President The Teacher. His profanity laced tirade is bound to cause some repercussions for Mr Ingebretson, both financially and most likely a T&C violation that may result in some type of suspension.

Speaking to Mr Ingebretson on his facebook account, Mr Ingebrestson did state he's back for good, and he's going to do what ever it takes to improve Titulia, even if he has to be the bad guy to make it happen. He also fired off a similar tirade again aimed at the President and her cabinet.

I've always been the tribune for the people of this republic and I for one see this and ill be damned If I don't say something about this. Its my style and none of these are threats or what not. Just the way I view and I'm tired of the pussy mentality some have. Some people want cabinet positions or tollars. I won't play the "pimps and hoes" game. They can have me banned. Ill go Down like Jesus and die for your shit talking in public forum If I have to. I brought in a lot of liberals and what not which might have helped fuel this fire.er cabinet.

There has been little response yet from the Linardist Party, the Vice President, President or anyone for that matter. The Herald will report the Vice President or Presidents response if there is one. It is also suspected that Matt will face some type of disciplinary action by the Admin and we will report it as soon as we find out what it will be.

Is Money abusing his power as Vice President?

Titulia City - It's not been a great day for William Money. A man known for his business acumen, but not his political chops has been quietly moving about his business. But has he made the right moves in the last few days and how much will it cost him and his party in terms of political capital. Already a member of the Presidents party is initiating efforts to impeach Mr. Money, furthermore his budget proposal is already in trouble and has been only up a few hours.

The allegations of abuse of power are the most disturbing. According to the Titulian Conservative, Mr Money allegedly accused Julian, RNC president of breaking the Party's President Activities Act, which basically states you cannot send business email to ALL citizens.

The hubbub occurred over a recent email where Julian is advertising his Economic Forum. Clearly a harmless and non-profit program that would help the business climate in Titulia. I'm not sure if the Vice President saw this as an attempt to conduct business by the Titulian Conservative, but Julian is very upset at this juncture, even going as far to suggest that the Vice President be impeached.

So far neither Julian or Money have been available for an in depth interview regarding this matter. The Herald will make every effort to find out additional information on this crisis.
To make matters worse, the President of Titulia has been absent now for 6 days and still no budget. After taking some heat from citizens, Money submitted the budget. Soon after Karl Christen wrote an impassioned plea to reject the budget due to inflated salaries for government officials. Furthermore Owen Merry also sited concerns that there were no budgetary funds allocated in terms of government funded projects. For the first time a presidential budget is in jeopardy of being rejected.

Where is the president?

Titulia City - Growing concern has been expressed in Titulia regarding the whereabouts of the newly re-elected president of our Republic. Even her own cabinet members are expressing concern as shown by Gregory Hock in a recent constitutional proposal submitted by Tom Norton.pressing issues in real life.

Gregory is quoted as writing the following, "

I really support this prop. As much as I am a supporter of the Teacher, even I am disappointed as of late. But I think that although their office should be dealt with as discussed above, remember that there is real life stuff that trump Titulia. So is the President doing her job: no. But there most likely are real life circumstances behind this...and keep that in mind when we interact with them as citizens upon their return. I'm in no way inferring that these are excuses to be used, but rather there will be a former President that should not lose respect because they had more pressing issues in real life.

Tom J Norton, who has been very glowing in his praise of the President, also pointed out rather eloquently, "As much as I respect President Teacher, the required reform in Article III speaks to the Office of the President of the Republic, which is greater then one person" his comments came as a result of an earlier proposal from Dennis McVicker that suggested impeachment as a possible option for abandonment of a post.

The real question is succession of the presidency. Does the Republic have a clear and defined succession policy for it's executive branch. Clearly there is a Vice President at this time. In the past, Vice Presidents were known to step to the plate and serve the people when the president was away. Case in point was during Alex Pijanowski's administration, Alex had a family vacation he had to attend, and Dennis McVicker took over as his Vice President for the days he was away from the Republic.

Interestling enough, Dennis McVicker was also the first president who did not run with a Vice President when he beat Luxis Avaram to win his first and currently only term as president of the Republic. Then ill fated Trvseeker (Jason Ragen's) administration ended with the president resigning without a Veep to assume the presidency.

The big question is where is the Vice President? William Money is more then qualified to assume the role as president until Teachers return. The simple fact that he has not and that Madam President has not communicated that temporary transition is troubling to say the least. At this time there has been no comment from the Vice President or anyone from his party.

McVicker Proposal moves to substantive stage

Titulia City - In a closely fought battle, Dennis McVicker's recent Executive Council Proposition has reached the substantive stage. This means the battle is not over but the next round of voting could create a major change in how the government operates. At stake is the status-quo position, which simply means things stay as they are now.

Dennis who's crafted a unique proposition that mollifies a few of the hard line legislative supporters like Karl Christen and John Adams, but still retains the direct democracy aspects that many feel need to be maintained. Interestingly this proposal actually increases the direct democratic aspects of the government by increasing voter participation.

Basically every position in the current cabinet is now up for grabs. Dennis is suggesting that we hold weekly elections, culminating with the presidential election every 28 days. The theory is that activity levels are at their highest when voters are electing a president, and having an election every week would be an effective manner in which to keep their interest. Furthermore, each cabinet position would become a minister type position, which would include their own budget and employees.

The president's position would change to that of a parliamentary president. Where they would set the agenda and debate within the executive council. The four executive ministers and the president would have equal power in terms of their vote. At this point important legislation would be hashed out within the executive council, which then would be presented to the voters who would vote the proposal up or down.

We scoured the proposal comment board for dissenting views on this proposal, but none were found other then one comment by Gregory Hock, who was attempting to suggest that this proposition would give the president more power if there was a deadlock on a given proposal.

However, former President Alex Pijanowski and Republic Bad Boy, Owen Merry both concur that this proposal has merit. Alex stated, "At a point when Titulia desperately needs an increase in participation, I think that instituting the Executive Council, if only temporarily, could work wonders."

Owen Merry also piped in with, "This prop also increases direct democracy. After a week, the president hasnt proposed any nominations to the cabinet. She hasnt even proposed a budget, even though she is legally required to after 3 days of being elected. This knew system ensures certain jobs are done despite lazyness of certain politicians."

After analyzing the vote, we found that the Linardist Party voted almost straight party line against this proposal. Not one of the founding members of the Linardist Party has even suggested as to why they are opposed. This seems to be a growing trend within this party, anytime Dennis McVicker or his allies makes a proposal, they come out as a group and vote against it. Perhaps they have good reasons most of the time, but at this point the Titulian Herald is suggesting that there may be more to this than meets the eye. Is the Linardist Party holding a grudge against their former ally? It seems the animosity between these two divided camps is increasing, and coming to a head. Who will win the final battle is yet to be decided. Hopefully the feud does not come at the sacrifice of what is best for the Republic.

The Herald calls on all citizens to put aside their political interests for this substantive vote and really consider this proposal for what it could do for the Republic.

HE'S BACK!!

Titulia City - at my favorite watering hole in Titulia City, I've overheard many a conversation. Rumor has it that "Dennis is Back". I approached the man discussing this story and asked him who was "Dennis".

"Are you blooming kidding" he cried, " why he's the most popular citizen in Titulia!".

I had to chuckle, because this man didn't even recognize me. Maybe it was the fact that I had an inch of growth on my bald head as Scud loveningly reminds me of each time she sends me her love notes. But not to digress, Dennis is back!

Dennis McVicker just informed me tonight that he will re-enter Titulian politics. He's now motivated and excited to move the work of the people forward. Dennis lost his bid to become a consecutive term president, but his network of friends an allies is impressive.

I asked Dennis about attempts by others to besmirch his record as president. He just laughed and stated that people all have their opinions. One thing as his business partner, I know Dennis is the last one you want to fight in a back ally. But he's also one that you can stand beside in a fight as well.

The Herald is happy to hear that its Editor and Chief will be back in his office soon!

Christening ceremony for TJN buiding is announced

Titulia City - United Citizens Corp & Titulia Media Group have announced that September 1st will be the day they christen the T.J. Norton Building. This building will replace the old Christen Building in downtown Titulia city.

The new building will house the United Citzens Corporation, Titulia Media Group, main newspaper offices of the Titulia Herald, and a special residential suite has been created for the Titulia Media originals founders, Mrs. Erina Jensen and Tom J Norton. If they do not make it their home UCC president Karl Christen hopes it can be donated to a Titulian citizen in need.

The Christening will be conducted by the Bishop of the Titulian Catholic Church. Services will begin at 12:00 AM GST. Everyone in Titulia is welcome, there will be a BBQ in the TJ Norton Building parking lot.

The StormFront Scandal

Contrary to popular belief, the Stormfront Nationalist party was not banned for promoting “racial intolerance”, they were actually banned for breaking the Admin’s tough rules on election fraud. The Admin has banned a few people by these rules. A few people have tried logging in over ten accounts. One guy has even tried log in thirty accounts to make his party bigger.

“In cases of excessive numbers of registrations or logins from the same computer, the perpetrators will be banned from this website”.

These Stormfront members, claimed that they were all using the same computers from Portland University, which is why they had the same IP addresses. However, the Admin would not allow them to vote in the same elections or props, and considered them a threat. So the Admin banned them.

This is not the first time this has happened. The newly formed party, the New Democrats, had the same problem when they all logged in from school computers. They have resolved this issue by logging in again from their home computers. The New Democrats are now an active medium sized party with twelve members. But does this mean Stormfront could come back?

It is possible that Stormfront members may log back in from home computers, and it is noticeable that some have done so. In fact, the recently banned disgruntled Stormfront members may consider themselves martyrs and bring back even more followers. So far on the Stormfront website, there is only one mention of Titulia.

A proposition has been passed to ban Stormfront. But is what stopping the new members joining a different party? Or even forming a new party called the “Caucasian Nationalists”? Using the proposition as some sort witch hunt is rather pointless, as it is very disrespectful to the ideas of a civilised republic and the rule of law. Resorting to mob rule, we just end up becoming as bad as the neo-Nazi’s we are trying to get rid of in our republic.

I'd like to announce to the citizens of our republic, that The Titulia Herald is back! First we would like to thank it's founder, Tom J Norton and his wife Erina Jensen for their tireless efforts in making The Titulian Herald the paper it is today.

We'd also like to thanks those previous citizens that supported this paper, and we look forward to serving the citizens of Titulia far into the future. Originally Dennis McVicker was to assume the editor position at this paper. However, personal circumstances have made it necessary to assume this role until he can re assume the position.

Teacher wins in a landslide

Titulia City - The final vote tally for the August election has been tabulated. Teacher has won by a landslide over challenger Jeremy Jenkins and James Inglis. Teacher received 34 votes to Jenkins 11 votes, and Inglis finished with 8 votes. With 64.15 percent of the vote, Teacher easily avoided a second round runoff election and becomes the first non-founding citizen to win re-election to the presidency.

Mr Jenkins conceded his defeat in the forums, with the following statement.

"somewhere around 6 or 7 months ago, i emigrated to Titulia. I look back on that time and wish, that I had never done it. You people need to find a real hobby. I ran for election for fun, and loved every minute of watching you people get PISSED at each other about it. Calling me a fool for returning Titulia to greatness is absolutely correct. Titulia was NEVER great! ha ha. Just a bunch of people sitting around their computers YELLING at each other about whether to start a legislature. Is there no better way to spend your time? I used to take this seriously too, until i realized how precious life is, and that i was wasting it by being a part of Titulia. I hope you all have fun, but your kids/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/parents are calling you and you're too busy lobbying for new exchange rate on Titulia Dollars. Congratulations to Teacher on reelection, seriously. Obviously she is a good President because her people like her, but perhaps her people should move their attention elsewhere, and thereby, remain being people."

The opinion of this paper is that Jeremy maybe having a difficult time dealing with the loss. As for Mr Inglis no comment at this time, which of course is pretty standard for him. We are still waiting for the official victory speech of Teacher, and we will print it when it is available.

Teacher supporters are happy, as they should be in her crushing victory. But voting was at an all time low, and 34 votes in her favor would be barely enough to get her over the top in past elections. Other analysts have pointed out that without a Libertarian candidate in the race the outcome could have been much different. At this time Matt Ingebritson is unavailable for comment, though inquiries have been made on his facebook account. As for Mr McVicker, he has asked for privacy at this point and has declined comment on why there was no candidate for the Libertarian Party.

For two hours last night there were no guns, no police, no political parties and no divisions. After weeks of fear and oppression the cloud was lifted and the people shone bright - Titulia was whole again.

When the dust settled in one of the most respectful campaigns in months, Republican nominee The Teacher took office as the 7th president of the republic of Titulia. Defeated candidate Owen Merry of the United Independents gracefully bowed and left the stage honouring the president-elect.


THE WORK BEGINS

As with any new administration, Titulians are now wondering who the new team is that the president has picked to lead the agenda laid out in the campaign.

The new president's nomination of TMG CEO Erina Jensen as Minister for Social Inclusion, Communication and the Arts caused a roar of applause at the Herald as did word of the nomination of presidential contender Owen Merry (I) for the coveted portfolio of Immigration.

Other cabinet nominees include former Congressman Robert Descoteaux (R) as Attorney-General and June presidential nominee William D. Money (Lin.) as Minister for the Economy.

Minister designate Erina Jensen said she was thrilled to be selected for the important new 'super portfolio' taking charge of promoting citizen and artistic activity, government media spokesperson and cabinet coordinator. This is the first time Ms Jensen has been called to cabinet.

"This is a great opportunity and I look forward to getting to work", the inaugural cabinet member said.

"We have so many opportunities available to us and I won't for a moment let them pass us by. The citizens made a clear choice in electing the president to get straight to work and as one united administration team we will deliver for all Titulians".

Jensen will transfer her assets to former vice president Karl Christen until she leaves office.
