VIEW POINT: DEFINE "CONSERVATIVE"

HERALD VIEWPOINT

T. J. Norton

Chairman, Republican National Committee

As most if not all are aware, I have recently come under attack by the so-called "conservative" power-players in Titulia for, as they phrase it "not being conservative enough".

Over the past week and a half I have thought deeply about why I am Republican and the reasons why I believe in the Grand Ole' Party - at least in Titulia.

Is it not conservative to believe in creativity and the power of citizen-driven ideas into their Government?

Also, is it not conservative to demand for Government itself to get out of the way of moderate and manageable progression and allow the citizens to take control by innovation? The role of Government is to keep the water flowing and the lights on - not to dominate the idea portfolio of the nation.

Some of our greatest advances such as curing poliomyelitis ("polio") or finding aspirin was a result of individualism, not Government red-tape and bureaucracy.

Is it not conservative to advocate that life begins at conception and believe in a stronger tomorrow for all citizens and their families?

Is it not conservative to stand against gay marriage?

Just because I support an individual's right to stand in pride and not have to suffer ridicule or be socially disjointed because of their chosen sexual preference I am apparently a "RINO" as one conservative member of my own caucus put it.

Is it not conservative to take a stand against Governments that want to bankrupt the nation and leave our Titulian generations to come with nothing? To squander the benefits of a virtual nation not being available to us anywhere else in the world and ONLY in Titulia?!

If this is not "being conservative" then it just proves what the rest of the Republic are thinking - the RNC and Conservative caucuses are way off base and out of touch on the majority of conservative or moderate issues.

President Ragan (Trvthseeker) was elected by a minority of breakaway Republican votes who claimed he was the next best thing to conservatism on the ballot.

Sorry Julian and JI but I have to ask - are you completely and utterly F*n blind?!

The Whigs are loyalist centre-leftists - you morons! So you throw out a conservative leader such as former Presidents McVicker and Avaram and what have we got, man?

Well T. J. it's like this .. umm .. well .. umm .. yeah. <-- This is a fairly accurate simulation of the type of response I've been getting lately when I have asked that very question.

But then again - according to the right-wing benches - I'm "not conservative enough".

Dream on, fellows. At the rate you guys are going with your single-issue appendix worth of so-called Republican policy .. if you stacked the nation with Joyce Meyer and Billy Graham wannabes you'll still be in opposition.

There is change coming to Titulia. RIP the Republican Party - we hardly knew ye!
