President Dennis McVicker (Libertarian)
IN OUR SECOND EXCLUSIVE with the Candidates, the Herald's own Bailey Moreville sits down with Titulia's incumbent head of state - President Dennis McVicker of the Libertarian Party. In his bid for a second term in office, President McVicker raised the stakes earlier today when he announced a massive multi-tollar investment to continue what has already begun - all from his own pocket!
BAILEY MOREVILLE: President McVicker, thanks for joining us.
PRESIDENT DENNIS McVICKER: Thank you .. and thank you and the Herald for this interview.
B.M : In your bid for re-election there have been various ideas floated and critiqued. What are your goals for your next term in office, if re-elected?
PRESIDENT: There are two main issues this time around - activity and the economy. The plan I put forward for the economy kind of addresses both by requiring a certain level of to obtain land grants.
B. M : What are your views on the vice presidency and why haven't you picked a running mate?
PRESIDENT: The problem I have with a Vice President is there are no rules on succession and no way to turn the government over to a VP if there were the need.
The VP can either be a tremendously powerful position or completely useless depending on the administration. As a result I find the position to be rather useless, so instead of a Vice President I will have a Chief of Staff who guides my cabinet and the administration.
B. M : Where do you see the republic under your continued leadership and in what areas do you see the country develop?
PRESIDENT: My vision for Titulia is quite idealist to be honest. I see a thriving nation without borders or boundaries. I imagine a nation where freedom, liberty, and justice reign supreme. In my vision of Titulia we have an economy that is unmatched, along with a thriving center for art, music and culture.
B. M : From what I have noticed there's a lot of discussion about the economy but few seem to get a handle on the fundamental gist. For instance, your platform identified the 'economy' itself as a place of proactive opportunity - whereas another view turns the light to reactivity. Mr President- what do you identify as our key targets to keep Titulia moving and promote a more friendlier and open economic environment?
PRESIDENT: The economy is still in its infancy, my goal is to create the infrastructure needed for sustainable growth. I'm also hoping to encourage growth through my grant program for new businesses and by providing a stable credit market by creating the Federal Reserve Bank of Titulia (FRBT).
The problem with creating jobs is honestly a little trickier to solve and this is why. In order for jobs to be created a business needs to be labor intensive, and seeing as the nature of Titulia makes production improbable we wont be seeing any major job creation.
I'm not saying new businesses will not create new jobs, but that most employment created will probably be through sole proprietorships with perhaps an employee or two depending on the industry. The only exception I possibly see to this is the banking industry at the moment, that is what makes the FRBT so important.
By creating a structured credit market we should see banks taking a larger role in the economy. By creating demand for banking we'll see banks having to to hire loan officers, bank managers and other employees.
These employees will then have money to spend, it will then be the job of entrepreneurs to create businesses where these people will want to spend that money thus creating more wealth and more jobs.
B. M : Your administration is one of - if not - the most stable we've seen. Delivering on your promise of good government, how will you continue that in your second term - if re-elected - and do you envision your priorities will be enacted by the end of the next term?
PRESIDENT: Accomplishing my goals involves sticking to the process we have already started, and expanding upon it.
Immigration will continue, along with our public relations efforts, and the next focus is the economy and continuing efforts at improving activity.
I will be continuing with the same cabinet structure I already have - only some of the faces will change.
B. M : Since you announced you were running for re-election you seem to have received some of the widest support of any candidate. As the polling booth is about to open, what would you like to say to the Titulian people?
PRESIDENT: Thank you again for this great opportunity. I'd like to thank all my supporters and the other candidates for a lively debate so far.
This election has been very interesting. I hope whomever is elected President - hopefully me - that this election helps create a new level of activity and interest for all involved.
B. I. : Something for all citizens to think about. You've been reading our exclusive interview with the Libertarian candidate and incumbent President of Titulia, Dennis McVicker. Mr President, thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to speak to us.
PRESIDENT: Thank you, Bailey.
This is Bailey Moreville for the TMG® Titulia Herald - News, Views and most important - you.
