Matthew Ingebritson (Social Democratic Party)
IN AN EXCLUSIVE with the 'wildcard' of the presidential contest, Social Democratic contender Matthew Ingebritson sat down with Editorial Partner Bailey Moreville to talk about what it means to be Titulian.
We spoke about his economic platform, cabinet picks and his campaign to become Titulia's 6th chief executive.
BAILEY MOREVILLE: Matthew, welcome to the Titulia Herald and thanks for your time.
MATTHEW INGEBRITSON: I would first like to thank you Bailey, Erina, and the people here at the Herald for taking the time for this interview.
B.M : Not at all. It's great that we've finally had the chance to talk. How's life on the campaign trail?
M.I : It's great. I'm loving the chance to meet people and talk about their ideas.
B.M : Let's get down to it. If elected, what would be the single-largest focus of an Ingebritson Administration?
M.I : I would focus on the economy the most. I'm offering grants to the people of Titulia to start new businesses or buy homes.
In order to pay for this I would be willing to use our prior administrations left over budgets. The current administration is going to start a lock box program for it for "economic emergencies". Well, I think we're in one. We have new members and more on the way. We have to offer something right?
The only way I wouldn't use much of the prior budget surplus would be if my Disaster prop passes of course. I wouldn't put our nation at an economic risk like that.
B. M : One thing citizens have warmed to is having a Vice President. Do you believe we need one? If so, why and who is you favourite?
M.I : I would pick a vice president. I believe it was T. J. [Norton] or Karl [Christen] who first came up with that idea and I like it. It's always great to have a second-in-command that might show you the other side of the coin to any situation. Empathy is key.
I have a few people on my mind that I will be asking. I am looking outside of the candidates running for my vice president pick.
B. M : The republic is going through a time of positive reform. The Administrator has cleaned up inactive citizen numbers and provided the facilities for citizens wanting to emigrate to do so. What vision do you see for Titulia's future?
M. I : I see many great things in Titulia's future. The key thing is immigration. We need diversity. People from all walks of life. I'm trying to reach out to many contacts I have.
The economy is also important and it will take more than a false prophet promising the people things the Administrator wouldn't approve.
B. M : As a pro-union leader in real-life and in Titulia, what is your view on the economy and the need to create more jobs?
M. I : I was a rep. For the UAW [United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America] local (894). That honestly, was the most rewarding thing I've done in my life. To stand up and defend people who couldn't defend themselves. Truly a rewarding feeling.
I am very confident that we can create new jobs we have a lot of very bright individuals here in our Republic. We need outside of the box thinking that I would encourage members post in the prop section. Your ideas could be the missing link we need to jump start this economy.
B. M : A large problem in any Government is making sure you pick the team that can deliver. How do you plan on accomplishing your goals and what kind of cabinet would you be looking at forming?
M. I : My goals will take some hard work and effort, which sums up my past. It will also take outside funding to purchase 1000 tollars to help fund my causes, if elected.
At first I said I would offer a "free" cabinet, but looking back on that I realize that I would be better off paying them out of my pocket if elected. The 1000 tollars I purchase will help pay for my cabinet.
My cabinet would be diverse. I would reach out to just about anyone with a bright mind and determination to make Titulia a great Republic. People who put the Republic first, not their party.
B. M : What's your view on the incumbent president and their team?
M. I : I would like to give credit where credit is due. Dennis has been an outstanding President and I'm thankful of him and his cabinet's hard work. Codex is one of the hardest working people in this government and I have the utmost respect for him.
B. M : Besides the first president Mary Brewster put in place by the Administrator to launch the republic, it would be the first time in Titulian electoral history that an incumbent has achieved a second-term in office. Care to share your plans?
[*both laugh*]
M. I : This is a one-shot bid for the Titulian presidency. If I make it across the line I would only run for one term.
Other administrations have stated this and went back on their word but this is the real deal. If I don't get elected I will also be leaving my party as president and return to the life of a citizen and work on a project i've been brainstorming on.
B. I. : Some major revelations there. This has been an exclusive interview with Social Democratic candidate for President of Titulia, Matthew Ingebritson. Matthew - thank you so much for joining us here at the Herald.
M. I : Thanks for having me it's been great.
This is Bailey Moreville for the TMG® Titulia Herald - News, Views and most important - you.
