TITULIA'S best and brighest has left the growing virtual nation. Steven Leggett, Titulia's first court Justice, law firm partner and founder of the Titulian Ice Hockey League (TIHL) which owned the Titulia Dome and Conference Centre and the Titulia Arena - home bases for all of the TIHL franchise teams - has voluntarily left the republic and set into motion a raft of anger and confusion from friends, business acquaintences and critics alike.
Following the controversial departure of one of Titulia's most loved citizens, the TIHL® Titulia Herald ARENA™ has been gifted to TMG Chief Executive Officer Erina Jensen to continue the Leggett legacy as one of Titulia's premier entertainment and sporting venues. The RNC® Dome and Conference Centre has been gifted to former President of the Republic and General Court nominee the Honourable Luxis Avaram.
According to his blog, Mr Leggett has now departed the republic to spend more time on family and business commitments.
"I for one have been one of those who took a step away from the politics and concentrated on a few business ventures, notably my Arena, Dome and Ice Hockey League. The Dome was very popular, the Arena also attracted support from the Herald but the Ice Hockey League was less lucrative. I have decided to close the league as the work involved in running the league far outweighed the the financial benefits it brought me", Mr Leggett is quoted saying.
The events that led to this departure are somewhat known but are still mysterious. to some accounts. According to reports, TMG's leading competitor the Titulia Times Company took issue to Mr Leggett forming a business relationship with the Titulia Herald. According to the reports, Times chief Editor Mr MC Daddy D allegedly threatened to withdraw associative business relationships with Mr Leggett unless he conceded to ceasing a relationship with the Herald.
According to reports, Times' chief Mr MC Daddy D threatened to cut ties with Mr Leggett's law firm Manhattan, LLP. Events took a turn for the worst when Mr MC Daddy D reportedly threatened to approach Chief Justice Drmanhaton - partner of the law firm representing Titulia Times should Mr Leggett fail to cut ties with their lead media competitor.
As at the time of writing, TMG officials have already tried twice to contact Titulia Times via Skype but have been unable to contact them [the Titulia Times] to discover the possibility of a peaceful solution to this crisis. Despite not being able to make contact, TMG director and Herald Editorial Partner T. J. Norton remained optimistic of a truce between the media magnates.
"The Times editor-in-chief and myself share an amicable acquaintance. Hopefully I can prevail upon that to bring about a truce and to try and win Mr Leggett back at the same time", Mr Norton said.
TMG CEO Erina Jensen has been reportedly devastated by the incident.
"I am speechless. I am angry - vocal even. But .. I.. this is wrong on so many levels I can't begin to describe", Ms Jensen said.
Ms Jensen reported that she had transferred the incredibly generous gift that is the spectacular multi-tollar Titulia Arena to the Herald's new parent corporation - the Titulia Media Group, TLLC. ("TMG") as trust for Mr Leggett should he return.
"I want him [Steven] to come back so very much. If he does, whatever he wishes to do will have a venue for him to capitalise on. He IS the Titulia Arena and I begrundgingly accept this kind gesture only on the condition that if he returns he take back ownership", Ms Jensen said.
The TMG CEO has confirmed that due to the fall of the TIHL® the Titulia Arena will be suspending the ice hockey schedule until further notice.
"I am sorry to all of Titulia's ice hockey fans that I had to make this decision but the fact remains this was Steven's game and he had the facilities to run it. As this is a shock departure for all of us I ask for your understanding while we work through this", Ms Jensen said.
TMG director T. J. Norton said he was considering legal advice as to how best accomodate the TIHL® teams who were based at the Arena.
"Anyone who followed the TIHL knows that the competition's teams were housed at two TIHL stadiums - the Dome and the Arena. Despite possessing rights to the name, the teams, the Dome and the Arena were owned and managed by the TIHL", Mr Norton said.
"Now the league has been closed and both of these prime stadiums have been gifted to different people, I think that we need to have a chat to Luxis about whether or not we have a financial obligation to those team owners. There are three conversations really that need to be had. One at TMG, one with Avaram management and one combined. I am confident that we can secure a deal that could perhaps form a management consortium between the two location owners. This would help preserve Steven's legacy".
"For now, Erina and I will discuss with the team owners how to accomodate their lease options now the league is over. It's no one's fault just something that we both feel needs to be tidied up".
TMG management were asked whether they were contemplating legal action.
"I don't think that [legal action] it is appropriate or necessary. If anyone is entitled to legal relief it's Mr Leggett - not us", Mr Norton said.
Ms Jensen agreed but said that she was speaking from a place of emotion considering the loss of Steven Leggett from the Republic.
"I really thought we could have become good friends. This is a tremendous shock and I am too upset to find the words to describe how angry I am with the Times. I want to remain positive that Steven [Leggett] will come back and this is all a bad dream. But this is all a bit too much", Ms Jensen said.
Ms Jensen said Titulia has reached a 'critical mass' where personality is turning into a sour reality.
"When you play Second Life, WOW [World of Warcraft], Evony, SIMS - there are disputes and even exchanges. But Titulia is scary considering it's current form is little more than an expanded blog. There have been real casualties to the cause of nation building here. I can't see an end in sight until one faction controls all and we are faced with a communist dictatorship of either a government or corporate structure".
Steven Leggett is the second major casualty to Titulia in the past week with Immigration Minister Mac McDonald retiring from Republic life little over a week ago due to "family commitments". Citizens across the political divide are begging the question over social participation in Titulia following Ms Jensen's introduction of a peace initiative aimed at more cordial relations between citizens.
Mr Norton went on the record as a staunch admirer of Steven Leggett and his ideas.
"Steven [Leggett] and I use to joke we each other's 'crackpot'. But I don't really think we took our exchanges that deep. I met Steven when I was a candidate for President of the Republic and the Whig Party quickly rose to seniority on the political backbenches".
"Steve was about as honest as you can get. I hated to love the guy at times but he deserves better than this. If the Times attack his memory I'll be ready to go to the mat - but hopefully we can avoid the fallout with an admission of events. I won't stand by and allow his character to be tarnished like this - even if it means my own downfall. Unlike some citizens I'm prepared to put it all on the line when it matters", Mr Norton challenged.
When asked if he believed the Titulia Times would be prepared to reach an agreement, Mr Norton said anything was possible.
"In the corporate world there is only one commodity that means anything - the almighty dollar. I know how the Linardist's [Lindarist Party members] work - they're like anyone else they want to make a buck. I'm fairly confident that we as professional businessmen and businesswomen can reach an agreement on this and avoid an unnecessary turn of events", Mr Norton said.
On behalf of the Herald and its parent company TMG - please return Mr Leggett! Titulia needs you.
