SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO THE HON. STEVEN LEGGETT, GCJ (Ret'd)

HE MIGRATED to Titulia like we all did - through the front door. He left the same way with his reputation intact and his head held high. A colourful and passionate citizen he was and never did he waver in his values or his ability to rise to the challenge of debate. A legal mind who will no doubt contribute to the debate for a long time in the United Kingdom and without a doubt argue before its highest court in real-life one day.
Over the past two days there has been much controversy surrounding his decision to finally pull up stumps and set sail for his homeland. The Herald has reported the story and worked with both sides of the aisle - the President of the Republic Dennis McVicker and Republican leader-in-waiting Karl Christen - to attempt to bring a peaceable resolution to the immature events that have followed. We sadly report that the Herald, the President and the former Vice President have struck out but certainly not without considerable effort and our full support.
The Titulia Times editor-in-chief MC Daddy D has elected to take the road of hateful discourse instead of working together to find ground to resolve the crisis. If last night's phone conversation with the Times chief was any demonstration, we'd frankly we surprised if other diplomatic efforts could get a word in edgeways through the screaming and abuse.
But with anything in life it has reinforced a valuable lesson. The saying 'you never argue with an idiot or a fool' held special credence during our discussion with the Times. The madness of the entire episode eventuated into a polar spin of sorts. We ended up thinking more of those we thought less - and thought less of those whom we thought more.
In the past 24-hours we have gained immense respect for President McVicker for the way he has led us through this crisis. We have lost all respect for MC Daddy D whom we believed to be a gentleman of honour. In an effort to do our jobs we achieved unparalleled support from fellow citizens and any small impact came in the form of abuse from our lead competitor.
As a large element in our articles focused on the media and the 'perceptions' the Times head reflected to what was really an open-and-shut matter of childishness - with no apparent end in sight.
We pay tribute to an outstanding Titulian and a dedicated legal profressional. May Steven Leggett long be remembered for what he accomplished in the formation of the Court and his living memory as a member of its first bench, the Titulia Herald Arena and the RNC Dome and Conference Centre, the Titulian Ice Hockey League (TIHL®) and a legal mind second-to-none.
In Steven's time he accomplished what neither us at TMG, the past presidential administrations or the Titulia Times would be able to achieve in our Titulian lifetime. May the "Leggett Legacy" live on.
