HERALD VIEWPOINT

Jason Ragan ("Trvthseeker")

Whig Nominee for President of the Republic

Presidential Advisor, McVicker Administration

Old saying: 'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink'. This is something I deal with everyday at work by trying to encourage people to take training but all they want to do is drive a truck. The province already has enough truck drivers. The phrase also applies to Titulia . The Admin has created the structures we need to have an engaging republic and are adding new ones all the time. It is now up to us to use them.

The first thing I want to do is start by introducing a weekly 'award' for two things - the best item written in the blogs or forums and for the 'role model' of the week. To further encourage participation I don't want this decision made by government, I want a non-profit organization to take the lead on this and to issue this award. The government will issue a call for proposals and an organization will be awarded this contract.

Its time for the government to start spending money. The easiest way to do this is hire people. My 'inner' cabinet will be quite small, only 3 people plus the President. But each cabinet minister will have the ability to hire 3 advisors each. I also want to make sure that the Editor in Chief and Editors of The Post will be paid for their efforts.

The citizens will have the ability to create a 'citizens committee' if they believe there is an important issue concerning the Republic and wish to come up with solutions for this problem. The citizen will need to gather at least one more person and then put forward a terms of reference to the President and then I will forward this onto the proposition board. There will be the opportunity to be paid for this if the terms of reference specify a result and this result is achieved. This is up to the citizens to initiate. But government money will assist the citizens to achieve the results they wish to achieve.

Of course if a government is spending money, they need to be accountable. I will make sure that the transactions of the government are recorded in an 'accountability' entity so that all citizens can monitor the activities of government.

As you can see, a Trvthseeker Government will do its best to 'sweeten' the water. I believe I have demonstrated a good understanding of world politics and look forward to engaging with all citizens on this. In my next release I will discuss about what we can do with the economy.
